The Knightcote Herd, Warwickshire

It was important that the stock produced as part of The Knightcote Herd were of good pedigree and in 2006, Mr. and Mrs. Hadley broke the South Devon Herd Book Society’s record for a bull and paid 6,200gns for Colcharton Demetrius from the Colcharton herd, near Tavistock.

The breeding of this quality pedigree stock continues and they have successfully bred the sons of Colcharton Demetrius.

In 2011, The Knightcote Herd went international and formed links with a South Devon Cattle farm in Australia. Working with South Devon producers Chris and Leonie Daley of The Bend Stud, Bendigo, Victoria, Australia they purchased the rights to the semen from The Bend Digger bull. The partnership has been very successful and the first calves arrived on the farm in Warwickshire in February 2012.

Another son of Colcharton Demetrius has been retained in the herd and has been successfully shown to Breed Championship level during 2013 at many county shows.
